Celebrating SDG Week Across Greater Atlanta

Last week, March 3-7, 2025, was SDG Action and Awareness Week, designated by the University Global Coalition to inspire action towards the goals on campuses and in local communities. SDG Week spurred events and action across the globe, and across our own RCE!
On March 5, the SDG Futures Fellows presented the projects they’ve been working on with community organizations and local non-profit partners, all focused on sustainable development. The presentations included community feedback, allowing the Fellows to hone their skills and improve their final deliverables. The SDG Futures Fellowship aims to increase education about the UN SDGs through engaging projects and youth leadership. Following the theme of professional development, Kennesaw State University held a Sustainability Career Panel and Showcase as part of its 8th annual EQUINOX: UN SDGs Week.

EQUINOX: UN SDGs Week also included a free, pop-up food give-away for KSU students, faculty, and staff, and a unique event on the potential for advancing health and wellbeing through the arts, artistic collaborations, and aesthetic experiences.
On Georgia Tech’s campus, the Office of Sustainability hosted panels, workshops, poster sessions, and more to encourage action and to showcase the work being done on campus to advance the SDGs. See their full calendar of events, including SDGs trivia, a session on sustainability-focused study abroad programs, and a student-designed walking tour showcasing points of interest on Georgia Tech’s campus that highlight themes of equity and sustainability. Two of RCE’s own student coordinators, Julie Chen and Natalie Zhang, pictured below on the right, presented at an SDG poster session on RCE Greater Atlanta’s contribution to the goals for Georgia Tech, and a new campus SDG Guide.
