Virtual Kickoff for HELC Research Seminar Series
RCE Greater Atlanta’s Higher Education Learning Community (HELC) kicks off its fall virtual sustainable development research seminar series this Friday, September 25, 2020 with:
A Social-Ecological-Technical Systems (SETS) approach to advancing urban systems science featuring David M. Iwaniec, Assistant Professor, Urban Studies Institute, Georgia State University.
The seminar will take place from 12 PM – 1:15 PM.

This presentation will explore advances in developing a convergent urban systems science capable of co-producing the knowledge and capacities for sustainability transformations and building resilience to climate-driven extreme events. We will discuss a new initiative to develop transformation pathways of climate resilience with Atlanta, New York, Phoenix, and San Juan.

The Higher Education Learning Community (HELC) is a working group that aims to facilitate faculty and research-active student engagement with the SDGs in a collective learning environment. Participants include faculty and research-active students from Emory University, Georgia State University, Georgia Tech, Kennesaw State University, Morehouse College, Spelman College, and the University of Georgia.
